There is just something you have to like about bands who don’t usually take them self too seriously right? Once in a while we need a break from the angst and aggression of metal or the love cries of melodic rock and aor. Sometimes we just listen to a record without any expectations whatsoever and really enjoy what you just heard. Alright maybe I took a peek as to what the boys from Rocksugar had to offer, it grabbed my attention and the outcome left an even greater effect. Okay what am I speaking of you ask? Well imagine a rock and metal version mash up with some classic pop tunes jammed up into one and what do you get? well Reimaginator the recent release from the boys of Rock Sugar. Call it crazy but it works to perfection, no it’s not original, the songs are all cover tunes but the way they are combined and the sound the guitars produce when combining these mixes is absolutely a must listen to everyone who can appreciate a good fun cd.

Alright so let’s take a closer look into the madness that these guys have decided to unleash to the world heh? Well have you ever heard of a mash up between Metallica and Journey? Well now you do, the track aptly titled “Don’t Stop the Sandman” will no doubt catch your attention, maybe you re a crazy head and can’t get enough of such classics like Rick Springfield’s Jesse’s Girl and Ozzie’s “Crazy Train”, well “Crazy Girl” is just for you. Now you might think is insane to play these songs like this right? No not really, is fun as hell, you can sing your lungs out because it blends the best of both worlds perfect, and the musicianship by the guys actually does these great songs justice (listen to the crazy train guitar solo), pretty cool. Ohh but wait the fun doesn’t stop there, where else can you hear a mash up of AC/DC “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “Like A Prayer” by Madonna? yeah you know where, another nice piece of work here, as silly as it sounds but you will not want to stop singing along, and to spice things up drop a little “Hells Bells” too. I have to point out my favorite tune here “Straight To Rock City”, I’ll let you figure that one on your own, is just a kick ass track period.

Really feels like taking a trip back in time, hitting the charts with these songs we all know by heart, a complete party that will kick start your heart when you need a boost. Mad love for the guys of Rock Sugar – Jess, Chuck and Alex as they do a bang-up job here handling the material. As we said before is nothing groundbreaking here, but is all in good fun, and you have to give credit where credit is due to a genius idea to mix these genres in one big bag of treats. For a party rocking good time “Reimaginator” can’t be too far away from your cd player. Highly recommended if you’re a fan of rock in general go get this now!!!
