One of today’s top European metal acts – Primal Fear, are back on the road in North America again. The powerful outfit led by the powerhouse vocals of singer Ralf Scheepers, super producer/bassist Mat Sinner, killer dual guitar heroes Tom Naumann (filling in for Magnus Karlsson) and Alex Beyrodt, and drummer Randy Black kicked off their NA tour in Baltimore. We we’re lucky enough to catch them live at Stage 48 in NYC  as they blazed the stage in support of their ripping new offering “Delivering the Black”.

This night would prove to be a total success as all the metal warriors we’re out in full effect in the big city. Primal came out soaring with a setlist that consisted of classics the likes of “Nuclear Fire” and “Seven Seals”. One of their best tunes of all time was also featured on this electric night in “When Death Comes Knocking” one of the hit numbers from their new record. The night end with encore of “Running From the Dust” from the band’s self title debut all the way back in 1998.

Ralf Scheepers is a metal god, many have compared his range to that of Rob Halford, and while not a fair comparison, Ralf more then holds his own, has for along time. The vocals we’re a highlight once more, like glue without those thundering pipes, the level of intensity drops a few notches. The dual guitar attack of Beyrodt and Naumann, are polished and razor sharp. Two guys who are considered very good guitar players in Europe, you can’t go wrong. Plus these dudes are all seasoned musicians who have tons of music under their belt, the chemistry is evident there. Even without Magnus who decided to sit out the tour in order to spend more time with this family

Finally there is Mat Sinner, a man who never seizes to amaze with the amount of work that he tackles in the production side of the business, also dealing with Rock Meets Classic, his own band Sinner and Primal Fear. Kudos to Mat for living the metal life and totally keeping things balanced, he’s a big part of the Primal Fear staple and sound.

A great night overall, Primal Fear has proven they can keep the metal flame burning, alive and well into 2014. A solid as steel back discography helps the German outfit put out a great setlist, and with rave reviews to their new album, they prove to be very UNBREAKABLE!!!
