With a début album due from Frontiers Music Srl on Friday, February 19, 2016, hot new talent Inglorious are one of THE bands to watch in 2016.

Inglorious are five young men with a mutual love and respect of the classics of Hard Rock music, big guitar riffs, and soulful vocals. Their influences stem from iconic rock and roll shrine of Rock albums from the 1970s – many years before the band members were born.

The same albums that have inspired generations of musicians and performers are noticeably evident when you listen to the Inglorious debut album. This is the music they were born to play together – inspired by bands in the classic rock genre as diverse as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Bad Company, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, to name a few.

Formed in February 2014, the band is fronted by Nathan James, who made a name for himself having sung for the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Scorpions guitar legend Uli Jon Roth. Nathan was looking for like-minded musicians that desired to make incredible rock music in a very honest fashion.

Nathan thought to himself, “Why are those classic albums so awesome?” He realised it was because “the musicians were recording in an organic way; they could track it live and capture amazing energy.”

Inglorious is composed of rhythm guitarist Wil Taylor, lead guitarist Andreas Eriksson, bassist Colin Parkinson, and drummer Phil Beaver. Wil, from the Northeast of England, is the youngest member of the band whose heroes include Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge), Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather (Toto).

The whole band wrote the album with a few guest writers including Al Pitrelli (Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Joel Hoekstra (Night Ranger, Whitesnake) and Neil Fairclough (Queen).

After meeting with a few producers, Inglorious decided to produce the album themselves. Chris Kimsey, who has worked with The Who and the Rolling Stones, said “There is nothing for me to do, you guys are doing what I would tell you to do already.” High praise, indeed.

In advance of the official launch show, the band played 2 gigs, including a festival appearance at Planet Rockstock a few days ago. MyGlobalMind were also lucky enough to witness a short 30 minute set from the band at the famous Gibson Guitar Rooms in London on November 19th. The buzz in the room was palpable and the free drinks were almost unnecessary as an enticement to turn up as everyone in the room was focussed on hearing the band the rock world is talking about. A short intro from Planet Rock’s Paul Anthony confirmed that the feedback from playlisting their début single reached the same fever pitch as Iron Maiden’s latest release. So no pressure at all then as the band stand should to shoulder with one of the world’s biggest acts.

Showcasing the début album and playing live to the public for the first time showed a few nerves from the band that dissipated very very quickly as they realised they had a welcoming crowd. The roar that greeted them suggests both press and public alike are going to find a place in their hearts for this fine band and a true vocal talent in Nathan who HAS to be heard live.

A quick jibe at ‘industry types’ that never pay for an album or get a round in (a few of the usual suspects were, to be fair, spotted in the crowd!) from Nathan got everyone chuckling and glancing in either an accusatory or guilty looking way and then the band kicked into gear.

Of all of the tracks that stood out (and to be fair they all did…) the biggest highlight for me and one that I keep coming back to on the album (review to follow soon) is ‘Holy Water’. It drips with emotion and shows a range in a vocalist that others can only dream of. Truly spine tingling and enough to make me want to see them live performing a full set. Stunning stuff.

They will be touring with the Winery Dogs next year and the official launch show takes place in February as well.
