“THE SOUND OF SILENCE” CERTIFIED PLATINUM
Disturbed have been touring in support of their #1 album Immortalized, which boasted three #1 singles, the latest being their haunting version of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic hit “The Sound of Silence.” The single was just certified Platinum, after spending seven straight weeks at #1 on Rock Radio and reaching the Top 20 at Alternative Radio. The song first became a viral sensation following the release of the powerful music video, which now has over 75M views, and their breathtaking performance of the song on Conan, which has more than 16M views.
Formed in Chicago in 1996, the multi-platinum Disturbed – David Draiman [vocals], Dan Donegan [guitar], Mike Wengren [drums], and John Moyer [bass] – have sold over 15 million albums globally and scored twelve No. 1 singles at Rock Radio. Their quadruple-platinum 2000 debut The Sickness formally announced their arrival as hard rock leaders, with that status solidified by their subsequent Grammy Award nomination as well as gold-, platinum- and double platinum-certified records. Immortalized marked the end of the group’s 4-year hiatus and became their fifth consecutive album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, a rare feat achieved by only one other hard rock band in the history of the chart: Metallica.
