Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the highly anticipated twelfth original Glenn Hughes album “Resonate” – released on Friday 4th November 2016. The album dovetails Glenn’s UK and European tour with American Grammy Award winners Living Colour, which kicks off in the UK on Tuesday 8th November (see tour dates listed below).

A true vocal and musical icon of our times, in the past couple of years Glenn concentrated again on his solo career. Sold out crowds were the order of the day, while touring non-stop throughout 2015, with shows in South America, Europe, UK, Japan and Singapore.

In addition, late in 2015, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame based in the USA, announced thatDeep Purple including MKIII, are finally to be inducted after several previous nominations over the years. This was a culmination of a 40+ years career which saw Glenn leave his indelible mark in several musical endeavours and bands, including Trapeze, Deep Purple, Hughes/Thrall, his collaborations with Gary Moore, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and most recently with Black Country Communion and California Breed.

2016 was his busiest year yet. With summer festivals and solo shows in the USA, UK and Europe, finally Glenn’s first solo album in over 8 years that will see the light of day!“Resonate” is truly a triumphant return to form for “The Voice of Rock”!

From album opener, “Heavy” to the very last chords of the closer, “Long Time Gone”, it promises to be a contender for ‘Album of the Year’. It features his live solo band members, Soren Andersen (guitars and co-producer), Pontus Engborg (drums) and newcomer to his band, Lachy Doley (keyboards), in addition to long-time friend and drummer, Chad Smith (of Red Hot Chili Peppers), who joined them in the studio for the opening and closing numbers.

It might well be the most heavy sounding of his solo albums, but as is his trademark, musical diversity shines through and as Glenn commented upon completion of the new recording, “this album is the first kind of a complete Glenn Hughes album“.

No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes’ calling card and the new album, “Resonate” will shine as a true Glenn Hughes landmark release.

Make no mistake. The Voice of Rock never left the building!

Glenn Hughes – Biography

Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favorite white singer.

The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success wasTrapeze. In 1973, Hughes joined Deep Purple. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice continued with the addition of Hughes and David Coverdale.

Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Japan and South America in support of solo albums, but more recently has been involved with award winning supergroups’, Black Country Communion with guitar star Joe Bonamassa, keyboard player Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham and California Breed, who also featured both Hughes and drummer Jason Bonham.

Glenn Hughes was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Mark III line up of Deep Purple. He spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of the group, recording on the classic albums: Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste The Band. Hughes and other members of Deep Purple were in attendance to receive the honor.

Living Colour – Biography

Formed in 1984, led by guitarist Vernon Reid, with Corey Glover (vocals), Will Calhoun (drums) and Doug Wimbish (bass), the band’s music is a creative fusion influenced by free jazz, funk, hard rock and heavy metal. After months of touring and a little push from MTV, their second single from Vivid‘Cult of Personality‘, helped propel Living Colour into the mainstream along with an opening slot for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels tour, garnering their first Grammy in 1989 for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance’.

Other songs from Vivid that fared well on radio and MTV were ‘Glamour Boys,’ which became a Top 40 hit, ’Open Letter (to Landlord),’ and ‘Funny Vibe,’ a song about racism, which included a guest appearance by the rap group Public Enemy.

Their sophomore effort 1990’s Time’s Up including the alt-rock classic ‘Type’, bluesy R&B ‘Love Rears Its Ugly Head’, and the funky ‘Elvis Is Dead’, rewarded the band with their second Grammy, spearheading a wave of eclectic and critically acclaimed bands who challenged racial conventions. With their diverse range in musical style, they fit perfectly on the inaugural Lollapalooza tour. 1993’s Stain, showed a darker, heavier side of the band with songs like ‘Go Away’ and ‘Leave It Alone’. After a brief break in 1995, the band got back together to tour, and record 2003’s Collide0scope and 2009’s The Chair In The Doorway.

The impetus of Living Colour’s new album, Shade originated from a centennial performance of Robert Johnson‘s ‘Preachin’ Blues’ at the legendary Apollo Theatrein New York City. Shade, to be released in the fall of 2016, is “the sound of a band coming to terms with its shadows and light,” as described by Vernon Reid.  “From the blue pulpit of Robert Johnson to the mean red streets of Brooklyn. Shade is the next chapter of a unique American journey.” Corey Glover portrays Shade as an “homage to the blues” that links the band to their disparate roots and includes a cover of Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Who Shot Ya?’ which links to current social issues important to the Living Colour ethos.
