The music is Melodic Progressive Metal/Rock Opera with strong Symphonic influences and elements of Hard Rock. It is not very Heavy and Aggressive but contains many beautiful melodies, decent synth works (maestro Jens Johansson performed some outstanding solos) and solid guitar work. Sometimes it reminds me of Royal Hunt and Rock Operas Genius and Ayreon.
Something that does set the band apart and make them unique is the interesting vocal style of lead-man Lassi Vääränen, who can sound like a Traditional eighties Metal vocalist one minute, a junior James LaBrie the next and then sound more like a modern Hard Rock vocalist the next.
Kings of the Sun…now there a name that really takes me back.Successful in the eighties era of MTV with videos from their debut like “Serpentine”and “Black Leather”..they fell victim to the grunge music genre. I saw them live in 1988 as support to Kiss in Belfast. As well as Kiss, Kings of the Sun also toured with Joe Satriani, Guns N Roses and Lita Ford.
