Barring my personal issues with the vocal style, I can certainly see why Don selected this as his pick. Battlecross, at first sound derivative of the wave of Metal bands that have dominated the last few years, but after a few more spins you get a sense of what they’re bringing to the table. Without a doubt fans of Lamb and Shadow’s will very much love this band (and likely already do.)
it’s quite clear that there’s no lack of musicianship involved with Hypocrisy and it would be surprising if they did sound like any other band. That said, I do hope the band keeps going in this direction, because this sort of melodic atmospheric death metal is what they do best to me, and it made End of Disclosure end up as a big surprise. It’s a very good Hypocrisy album, probably on the level with The Final Chapter and Virus as some of their best material.
they have forever planted themselves in the classic rock Americana ground of best acts of all time. Go to a karaoke bar and you are bound to find some classic Heart hits to sing along with, you pop a local classic rock station and you hear “Barracuda” or “Crazy On You” played countless amount of times.
