We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again, Heavy Psych Sounds are one of the top labels when it comes to the stoner/ desert rock sounds. Black Rainbows, who are about to release their sixth studio album, are near the top of that list. The band recently celebrated their tenth anniversary. And this album is the creme-de-la-creme. If you’re into bands such as Fu Manchu and Nebula, you will love Black Rainbows. Both bands have a similar heavy sound, and as for this album, it’s filled with plenty of fuzz and riffs to satisfy any stoner fan.

From the opening moments of the first song ‘Sunrise’, you feel as if you are listening to something special. A killer riff kicks in and you are instantly drawn into this feeling of wanting to just kick back and relax. In no time the first few songs scream through. ‘High To Hell’ and ‘The Sacrifice’ have hammering guitar licks and crushing fuzz filled riffs. ‘Grindstone’ has this mesmerizing sound that gets easily stuck in your head. This tune will be a favourite of the album. ‘Supernova & Asteroids’ is a great short rocker.

If you like that fuzz sound, then the next tune will be another favourite. ‘Riding Fast ‘Till The End Of Time’ allows the fuzz to ooze on out. It is a killer tune with a phenomenal ending guitar solo. This album is filled with great guitar work. It has an awesome sound throughout and is well done. ‘I Just Wanna Fire’ has a three-minute intro with kick-ass guitar solos, then even more solos through the rest of the tune. If anything, this album has been one awesome ear crusher to this point. The song ‘The Abyss’ continues to show this album isn’t about to let up on its energy. The energy flows from the start to the end. The last song; ’13th Step Of The Pyramid’; has this sort of cosmic start and turns into a slower grinding rocker. It almost seems to place you in a relaxed state. Then at the end of the trip which you’ve been on for the last forty-five minutes, it picks up a bit before ending. It’s a great finish to an album which fully charged.

This album rocks from start to finish. You won’t regret picking up a copy. It’s another great album from the Italian stoner rockers, that makes you want to put the top down and take a drive through the desert for days. They are on the road during April in Europe. We would love to see these guys hit the States at some point. But wherever you’re, if they are near you, get out and see them.
