The band labels itself as Progressive Thrash, which I certainly agree with, but there are also more than a few shout outs to the traditional Death Metal sound we all know and love. Songs like PREORDAINED GAME, ENTRAPMENT OF TIME and AGAINSTY DESTINY are all very high quality and sound like a cross between modern day TESTAMENT, DEATH and a non-electronic FEAR FACTORY…
The rest of the album does not follow this format and incorporates a mixture of Led Zeppelin guitar work drowned in space rock. There is a large dose of Mastodon here as well in the heavy slower riffs, which may lend them mainstream success. To top it off Olav is a good singer and gives the vocals as much exploration as the music.
The guys from Shy have managed to return to fine form and instead of trying to wait for things to fall in to place and take over in this ever chancing musical landscape, they have shown exemplary showcase and raw power that really proves that this sorta of music never dies.
