Kory Clarke’s “Payback’s A Bitch” overflows with creativity capturing both classy and modern sounds with songs that, on their own, will be like a good friend accompanying you in every life situation you can imagine, from sad and thoughtful to fun and rebellious, but as a whole might confuse you a bit. Although the record itself doesn’t have a specific style, it still shows variety and talent in every single song and will at least have one song (if not more) that you’ll love for sure.
I tried to like this album, I really did. All of the usual elements that get me going are here, unashamedly old-school Trash Metal, high pitched eighties style thrash vocals, decidedly old-school looking artwork and songs about headbaging and metal. But for some reason I’m just not feeling it…
I always loved the Beatles and Motown stuff and Led Zeppelin, I was also a big fan of Joe Walsh’s early work with The James Gang. I met him way back when we were recording at a studio in Florida. He had already joined The Eagles and they were huge.
