Vivid Circus – Promo

While the band call themselves a hard rock outfit, which to so extent I agree with, they also have a strong leaning toward Dream Theater style progressive metal and even a bit of a NWOBHM influence here and there. This makes for a very interesting concoction, and one that is quite hard to place into a genre…

Left Hand Path – Time To Die!

This little self-produced three track E.P comes with a warning about the fact that it was made with a mega-tight budget and is meant to be old-school underground dirty death metal. Luckily for me I already knew all of this before I received the promotional material from my earlier discussions with the band. Had I not been aware of this I might have been shocked enough to not even bother reviewing it…

Nameless Crime – Modus Operandi

Definitely an eclectic mix of styles and sounds and an interesting premise to base a band around and miraculously enough they actually succeed fairly well here. I do think they sound overall a little bit rough around the edges but that will all be improved with time I’m sure…

Denied – Seven Stars

So here we are couple of years later and yet again the band has self-released a four track demo titled SEVEN STARS. As far as I know the band are still signed with their label, so I’m not really sure why they have bothered self-releasing another demo, but oh well here it is to let’s take a look…

Broken Melody – Mirroring Identities

The biggest downside of being a music reviewer is that you end up eventually building up a wall around you with all of the awesome stuff you get to hear and it really makes it hard sometimes to fairly critique stuff that’s not so good. Rhino Bucket – Who’s Got Mine

Also check out the song of the motion picture The Wrestler as it featured Rhino Bucket and the song “”Soundtrack To A War” in it’s movie soundtrack. Is nice to still have the pleasure to enjoy bands like Rhino Bucket they just don’t make em like this anymore.

Hemoptysis – Misanthropic Slaughter

The word “misanthropic” means “marked by a hatred or contempt for humankind” and that meaning alone translates perfectly into what the band’s darkened electric riot sound portrays. The only song that I couldn’t filter was “The Cycle” as the tempo seemed off beat for some weird reason.

Texas Hippie Coalition – Rollin’

The influences in style range from Hendrix, Steve Miller, some Skynyrd of course and a little of Alice Cooper thrown in for good measure. With band members names like Big Dad Ritch and Crawfish (as southern as it gets)… I was hooked on their crunchy melodies with aggressive pure ripping southern metal scowls.

The New Black – II Better In Black

The press release hinted at the band’ sound as cross mixed between Black Label Society and Nickelback, the truth is that they have kin of their own sound and integrate modern American hard rock with some more mainstream hooks and antics on the Metal side of things. Is a good listen a few times but i didn’t feel as I was listening to anything powerful in terms of the music composition itself.

The Sovran – No Song For A Non-Generation

The style the band introduces is a mix of all influential overall with a little of death and roll ala latter day Sentenced, some new modern wave Punk and Roll mixed with a little bit of Motorhead. Sounds like a sick twisted of energy all clammed into one high explosion eruption…..yes you’re right thtese guys have energy to burn in the thousands.
