Robert Pehrsson’s Humbucker Long Way From the Start is one of those albums that I really wasn’t expecting much from but was blown away by.
Sometimes when you hear a band for the first time you just know how you’re going to feel by the end of the album. Every band hopes the listener is left salivating for at least another thousand listens, and will hopefully spend their hard earned money on as much merchandise as possible. The albums I really don’t like I just stop and move on to something else.
If I’m reaching to my CD rack wanting to listen to some old school music, I’m likely going to pick the old school band over the younger bands. Listening to their cover of Exciter’s classic track “Pounding Metal” secures what I just said. Awesome cover, but I’d likely listen to Exciter instead.
