With ‘Feral Roots’, Rival Sons have created a beautifully put together collection of melodic, powerful modern rock songs with meaning.
Arriving at the Ramblin Man Fair on Sunday with three young children in tow amidst heavy downpours, I have to confess my spirits were not high and I envisaged a total washout as dreams of us sitting on picnic blankets, sun beating down, listening to some great tunes quickly evaporated.
Black Whiskey will openly admit that their sound and roots are firmly entrenched in those classic sounds of the seventies and early eighties capturing influences from Free, Gary Moore, Led Zeppelin and even Glenn Hughes. Dig a little deeper however and we hear a modern take on the sound that also nods its head to the likes of Audioslave and Rival Sons.
Another hard rocking year has come to pass and that means more great music has come and gone in 2014. The best part for us writers who get the privilege to listen to a boatload of great music every year is introducing you to our favorite albums throughout the year.
