I was cautiously optimistic before hearing Long Night’s Journey Into Day, and thankfully it managed to exceed my best expectations and has become both my favorite album from Redemption, as well as my favorite album involving Tom S. Englund in quite some time.
features the unique brand of dark, atmospheric prog the band has always been known for, but it also has some of their catchiest and most melodic songs to date, making it a very good starting point
the greatness of a band is not measured with the amounts of people coming to see them play but rather with the quality of their fans’ devotion, and that night you could definitely witness this strong connection between Evergrey and the audience
As always, Tom S. Englund sounds amazing, and his vocals are one of the most important aspects of the album. He may not be the best singer technically, but it’s obvious he’s one of those rare singers who feels everything he sings.
