Hmmm….    It’s pretty rare, but sometimes after listening to an album I can be at a bit of a loss for words. That is precisely what happened once I reached the end of the new album from GLASS DELIRIUM.

I knew it had been interesting, and I knew that I liked it, but I couldn’t for the life of me think of anything to say about it. So I put it aside and had a quick listen each second day for a week or so, and I think now I can finally convey my thoughts about the album and also about the band.

THANKS TO A MONSTER’S HEAD is an eclectic mixture of progressive metal, gothic metal, jazz fusion and hard rock music, somehow all tied together cohesively enough for the casual listener to get much joy out of it.

With much thought, the only band I can really use as a reference to these guys is LACUNA COIL, but that’s mainly due to the dual male/female vocals and not a true idea of the musical style. Both vocalists are top notch and sway between gothic, operatic and hard rocking at the drop of a hat and have a natural chemistry between them that is clearly the driving force of the band.

That’s not to take away anything from the rest of the people in this band though, as everything is done at a very professional level and it’s obvious that there are no hangers-on in GLASS DELIRIUM, the entire band are certainly world-class musicians and composers which when combined with a major-label worthy production makes for a very pleasurable listen that will intrigue you and incite your mind with its creativity and originality.

GLASS DELIRIUM even have four of the best tracks from album in BESIDE MYSELF, VANISHED BY THE RED, AN ENIGMA and SECRET as totally free downloads from their myspace page, so I can recommend to anyone looking for something a little different to swing by and at least check out a couple of the songs, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, I know I was.
