Cal it the new wave of Italian Melodic Rock, because this year Italy has delivered some solid Melodic Rock and AOR material. Maybe the influence of Italian based Frontiers Records has impacted some of these new groups to come out of the woodwork and release some enjoyable material. This is the case with “Perfect View” a band formed by members Massimiliano Ordine, Francesco Cataldo and Luca Ferraresi back in 2008. Even though touted as a fairly new band in the scene, some of the band members have collaborated with Olaf Thorsen (Vision Divine, Labyrinth), Roberto Tiranti (Labyrinth) and Alex DeRosso (Dokken, Dark Lord).

The first thing that jumps out at you is the powerhouse vocals of lead singer Massimiliano Ordine, who’s pipes leave an impact on tracks “A Reason To Fight” and “One More Time”.  The guys clearly leave all influences in the open as the familiar Toto sounds and the edgier heavier crunch of bands like Edge Of Forever which feature strong vocals as well are eminent. A speedier faster metal riff comes your way in “Run” which reminds of “Burn” from Deep Purple when the chorus line approaches, one of the heaviest tunes on “Hold Your Dreams”. If the swivel sounds of “Don’t Turn Away” don’t remind you of Extreme then you’re not listening closely, this track delivers a youthful exuberant of energy and expertise musicianship. Overall the formula here works well as the tight niche group submerges all their melodies and catchy material to one carefully crafted record.

Mr Odin’s vocals are to be showcased for sure because his amazing voice here is what stamps this cd as a must listen, if you’re a fan of Melodic Rock and AOR then you have to check it out regardless. The  overall contribution from each member  makes it a more complete musical experience from top to bottom and the musicianship is sharp as nails.  I think this one might be one of the strongest offerings that Avenue of Allies label has released all year in terms of quality. Go check them out and decide for yourself or it might pass you by.
