Helloween finally made a triumphant return to the NYC area after their last visit here in 2009. They literally came “Straight out of Hell” bringing new tunes to their loyal fan base who made their presence known that night. This time they brought along help from local bands; NJ’s own Cypher Seer and Long Island’s Cold Steel.

Cypher Steel being a relatively new band brought the power metal vibe along with an interesting amalgam of other metal sub genres. It was very interesting to say the least, yet the stage presence was definitely great, as the singer reach sky soaring notes leaving some in awe.

Up next was Cold Steel a band who have definitely been around for decades, bringing along their new “America Idle”EP. They definitely showed the fans that old school trash metal can still be made, and re invented. They delivered a very kick-ass performance through out their set, and of course showed their pride of their local community of LI.

Helloween was long awaited. By the time their set up on their way, the place had filled up. Once they did begin playing, the fans went crazy, chanting along every song. The crowd was energy-filled, and even caused to the barricade to almost come down a couple of times, eventually leading to (us photographer being removed from the photo pit) and having it held by security guards. Their performance was insane, as they played songs such as “Straight out of Hell” and crowd favorites “Hold me in your Arms”, “Are you Metal?” & “Doctor Stein”. Definitely these German power metalers still have it, even at this age and time when is hard for the genre to stay alive. These guys will define to stay on top, it’s undeniable to say that they rocked NYC.
