Trash legends Slayer announced a few months ago originally that they would hit a few dates on tour in New York City and Los Angeles, it was later revealed that they would embark on a 5 week touring schedule. It had been a couple of years since fans in North America we’re treated to a Slayer headlining tour, as usual the wait is always gratifying for hungry metal fans as they never disappoint live with their transgression aggression and pit fall grooves. It has been a tumultuous year for Slayer however, with the tragic death of guitarist Jeff Hanneman and the departure of drummer Dave Lombardo. The current lineup includes vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, guitarist Gary Holt (of Exodus) and drummer Paul Bostaph.
Slayer brought along the French Trash/Death metal band Gojira as openers, one of whom has been labeled as one of the premier acts of the current metal scene. The French quartet brings layers of complexity, aggression and precision to their live performances. A nice opener for the legends of Trash that are Slayer. Myglobalmind was fortunate enough to catch Gojira opened up for Slayer and the show as as intense as advertised this past Wednesday the 27th at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden. Check out live photos below.
