Once again, the Viking ship had arrived to the metal city of New York. This gig had been sold out for about 3 weeks prior to the show, further building up the hype for the always mighty Amon Amarth. Their companions in battle would be Norway’s own Enslaved, and raising the American flag Skeletonwitch.

Skeletonwitch being the power house, started off the crowd quite well. Insane pits broke out throughout their set, warming up the crowd quite well for the other two battles waiting to happen that night. The band had a powerful set of the finest metal Ohio has to offer. Up next was Enslaved, the Norwegian pagans provided a very varied set, beginning with their newer material and topping the ending with their older, classic material. At long last the mighty Swedish warriors took stage. They delivered nothing short of a crushing set to a sold out crowd at Irving Plaza. Crowd surfers were everywhere from the second they began playing. The immense pits we’re evident everywhere throughout every single one of their songs, and of course, fans sang their hearts out to praise the great Norse gods. After almost a two hour set one can definitely say that even after mixed fan reviews of their newest album, Amon Amarth can definitely deliver to their loyal fan base, every time.

Deceiver of the Gods, Amon Amarth’s latest studio release via Metal Blade Records, has broken the band’s previous sales records around the world. The album landed at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #19 on the Top Current Albums Chart. The band’s last album, Surtur Rising, entered the Top 200 Chart at #34 making Deceiver of the Gods the band’s highest charting record to date.

Deceiver of the Gods came in at #9 on Canada’s Top 200 Chart, #2 on the Hard Music Charts and #21 on the Digital Music Chart. Additionally, the record came in at #2 on the iTunes Metal Chart, #2 on the iTunes Rock Chart and #7 on the iTunes Top 200.

In the UK, the record entered the official Album Charts at #67, the Rock/Metal Chart at #4 and the Independent Chart at #14 marking the highest UK chart placements for the band yet.

Elsewhere, Deceiver of the Gods came in at #9 on the Top 100 Album Chart in Switzerland, #7 on the Austrian Top 100, #9 in Sweden, #27 in Denmark, #51 in France, #34 in Czech Republic and #51 in Hungary.
