With everything Vital Remains had left behind on stage and among the fans that felt the power of the previous band, came among the smoke, Gorgoroth. Covered in spikes , studs and black and white make up , this band has always given the sort of lasting impressions in the back of people’s minds through their image and music. Tonight was no different, the venue, The Garage is always just right for these type of bands, for the intimacy and energy that gets blasted throughout. From the moment of the first song, Bergtrollet Hevn played ,the fans knew exactly what they were getting themselves in to, and everywhere around me, there was hair thrown on to my face as every song got more intense. Gorgoroth has a way of being hypnotic through their music, the melodic sounds that blended with the vocals showed this band’s ability to work together well. Highlights included songs such as Prayer and the Rite of infernal invocation that encouraged the whole venue to just become pure chaos.

As the show finished, and after weaving among sweaty men in leather jackets for the exit sign, it was a knowing realization that this is black metal at its finest.

After making a pact with the Devil in 1992, Infernus founded Gorgoroth, an early Norwegian black metal band. Gorgoroth has released albums on labels such as Nuclear Blast, Century Media, Season of Mist, Malicious Records and Regain Records, and has toured extensively abroad, and the line-up has been subject to several changes, with Infernus being the only remaining original member. After Gorgoroth’s controversial gig in Poland in February 2004, massive media attention led to an increase in both notoriety and record sales for the already infamous band. The band’s latest album, “Under the Sign of Hell 2011”, was released in late 2011. Infernus and drummer Tomas Asklund are currently at work on the next studio album “Instinctus Bestialis”, to be released by a yet-to-be-determined label.
