The Cult Swedish Metal heroes Ghost, had already establish themselves as a staple of live performances, mostly prolific for their aesthetics and their on stage presence. The music however, was an improvement that some desired or felt that it needed to be more developed. With their 3rd album released a short time ago, they created a more bombastic sound than their predecessor “Infestissumam”. With a new record “Meliora” and a bit of a different 70’s prog rock fusion blended into the already intriguing live performance, these guys sure know how to entertain the fan base.

We had to pleasure of checking them out live again back in NY, with their recent gig at Terminal 5.

They waste no time in getting the new songs acclimated with their this hungry NC crowd, as “Spirit” starts the show off with an peculiar intro and later delves the crowed into a more powerful Ghost sound. “Ritual” takes one’s ears back to their debut effort “Opus Eponymous” and keep the crowd mesmerized with their onstage visual pleasantries. Another killer live cut was a crow favorite “Body and Blood”, which cuts like a knife and drives with even more subtleties. Finally “Ghuleh / Zombie Queen” makes an apparent apparition towards the latter part of the set, before they come back with encore of “Monstrance Clock”.

This is Ghost doing what they have the last few years, not only being an enigmatic stage presence, but with an evolution in their music and adding a bit more substance and intricacies that will play very well with their older fan base as well as the intrigued cursed souls. A message from the clergy on this night was clear, this is Ghost and you are our children!!!
