Influenced by ‘90s hard rock bands (think Incubus in their quieter moments) and the raw vocal power of Alanis Morissette and Hayley Williams, Molly Anna’s dark fiction weaves intricate tales of love, self-destruction and extraordinary escape plans: from the scars left by lovers gone wrong to a burnt down house and a flawed alibi…
‘The Gun’ is the follow up to their single ‘Villain’, which they released in October 2015 to raise funds and awareness for Samaritans. The single proved popular – with Sloucher Zine describing it as? ‘Gorgeous’ and BBC Introducing saying it was ?‘Brilliant.’
‘The Gun’ is described by vocalist Molly as ‘and honest and tumultuous account of coming to terms with mistakes I’ve made – those that hurt others. It’s the introspection that happens in our darkest hours.’
The band will be launching their debut EP ‘Ghosts’ at Bloo 88 in Sheffield on January 30th, from 19:00. Support comes from Kid Conventional and Dan Loops.
With a refined, mature and honest sound, the pair are set for even bigger and better things in 2016 – Molly Anna has already headlined shows in Leeds, performed at Tramlines festival and taken part in an Arts Council funded concert recognising the work of female composers.
Molly Anna and Mike Hukins self-produced the ‘Ghosts’ EP. It was mastered by Mynetaur productions and features guest performances by some of Leeds College of Music’s finest musicians on piano and drums.
‘Ghosts’ will be released on all digital outlets on January 30th, 2016.
