Former Rainbow/DIO bassist Jimmy Bain has passed away, dead at 68 according to reports

Another great rock name has reportedly left us too soon, Jimmy Bain former DIO/Rainbow and currently in Last in Line has passed away according to industry sources. As of this hour this remains an unconfirmed report. If reports are true, Bain was 68 and joins yet another line of high profile passing’s this year along with Lemmy from Motorhead in the Rock verse.

In 2013, Bain became a member of Last in Line, also featuring his fellow ex-Dio bandmates Vivian Campbell and Vinny Appice along with singer Andrew Freeman.

Last in Line performed in Miami, Florida on January 20 and is currently taking part in Def Leppard’s inaugural “Hysteria On The High Seas” cruise. If these reports are confirmed this may have been the site of his passing.

In 1983, Jimmy linked up again with ex-Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio for the band Dio. A central figure within Dio the band, Jimmy co-wrote some of the most successful heavy metal songs of the eighties, such as “Rainbow in the Dark“, and “Holy Diver“. These two were on their first album Holy Diver (1983). Jimmy co-wrote several other songs for the following albums, The Last in Line (1984), Sacred Heart (1985), Intermission (1986), Dream Evil (1987) and Killing the Dragon (2002).
