The Italian alternative rock band Down the Stone has released their first full-length album “Life” after their first EP entitled “Metamorphosis,”. The new album was released on December 16th, 2016, followed by the single “Walking in my shoes” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KpU7D_sN6k), has been arranged and produced by Marco Barusso (Lacuna Coil, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Coldplay) on Rock Today’s label, and recorded in cooperation with Dario Valentini at BBX in Milano.

We take four good Italian musicians, add some rock and heavy, we mix everything and we do have a bit of an interesting sound that creates this new album. How much energy is in this album? a good example comes via the powerful title track “Life” which opens the disc, and that reminds me of a Velvet Revolver sound.

“Walking In My Shoes”, in which classic metal and alternative metal meet, gives us a bursting sound. “Down the Stone” presents very good melodies, great choruses and where the voice of the singer Lorenzo Ricci add the right note.

The lack of ballads is in line with the attitude of the album, where we can find aggressive riffs, heavy rhythms, and wild guitar solos on almost every song, with the contribution of Marco Barusso, who plays the solo on “In A Good Day”.

The tracks “Hammer” and “Your World”, are songs of pure energy. In “My Mind”, the band has a pure heavy metal style. “Hate Me” consolidates the hardness of the entire album of its power. “Hate me”, was written after the tragic events in Paris on November 13rd, 2015 and it’s a stand against every act of violence motivated by religion.

The album ends with an unexpected cover of Lady Gaga, “Poker Face” that this rock version is almost appreciable. “Life” is an excellent work, hard and very powerful, a well-done work.
