Crazy Lixx – Ruff Justice Review

An excellent work, top marks for Crazy Lixx. A band that has for many years now remained true to their sound and influences, and I'm okay with that....

Swedish quintet Crazy Lixx will release their new studio album, “Ruff Justice” on April 21, 2017, via Frontiers Music Srl, with production by Danny Rexon and Chris Laney.

With ten songs inspired by 1980’s culture where music, horror and action movies and everything else was so trendy and cooler in that period, the band celebrates their fifteenth anniversary as well. The album also includes three songs which appear on the “Friday The 13th” video game soundtrack: “XIII”, “Killer” and “Live Before I Die”.

Friday the 13th: The Game is an upcoming survival horror video game developed by Gun Media and IllFonic, and published by Gun Media. It is scheduled for release in early 2017 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox, and Playstation 4.

“Ruff Justice” is the first Crazy Lixx album with the new lineup. “Wild Child” open this album in the best way possible with killer guitars and great voice, Danny Rexon is an incredible singer which you feel right away. “XIII”, the second track as the second single makes me roll back the years and puts you right on that 80’s sleaze chair, well done! “Walk the Wire”, a quiet song, romantic and easy listen, a classic rock power song.

Back to the rock with “Shot With A Needle of Love”, great sound, good music, excellent voice, just the Crazy Lixx’s way. The fifth song is a sort of ballad, “Killer”, but thank heaven, not the usual slow burn, there is pure energy on this track as well, good rhythms and guitars accompany the vocals.

With “Hunter of the Heart” we can find so much groovy rock style just like in “Snakes In Paradise”, the first single taken from this album, so good that it would make a perfect tune for radio play.

Ok, any good album has a ballad, this one has the intense track “If It’s Love”, a good piece but not my cup of tea, however.

Great guitar’s intro for “Kiss of Judas” presents itself with pure adrenaline and makes you want to check out these guys in a live setting. Such a good choice to end the album with “Live Before I Die”, a very cool song, the right song to complete this fresh album.

Ten tracks, that end way too soon, but one that makes “Ruff Justice” a concentrated piece of Hard Rock with a reminiscence of the 80’s rock spirit, rough attitude and amazing mood, because Rock it’s not just a way to escape but also a way of life.

An excellent work, top marks for Crazy Lixx. A band that has for many years now remained true to their sound and influences, and I’m okay with that.
