After a few changes to their lineup, Heavenfall has released their new EP, “The Besiders”. It contains five basic but very catchy metal tracks. Heavenfall is an Italian band which was formed during 2003, has already a full-length album, “Strongman”, which was released in 2012.
The band returns with this EP which has a modern heavy metal sound which has a strong progressive influence. However, their style while being fresh and innovative has the eighties feel to it.
The EP is opened by “Rat Show”. This track alternates between different guitar riffs. There are times the band expresses their power and in a similar style throughout the EP.
In “The Besiders” Heavenfall prove that they are a multi-faceted band. “The Mewlips”, is influenced by Tolkien enchanting writing. With “Ghost Rider In The Sky” being influenced by Jhonny Cash. “White Cancer” along with all the other tracks creates a sense of inspiration when listening to them. Making this a very listenable EP.
The acoustic version of “Let the Feathers Fall”, taken from the band’s first record, shows the most melodic side of Heavenfall, and the acoustics makes this for a very emotional song.
“Tartarughe Ninja Alla Riscossa” (Ninja Turtles Rising), is a cover of a 90’s cartoon theme but has been rearranged in a pure metal style.
Heavenfall shows an original and creative metal sound made in Italy. This EP makes me hungry for the next offering by the band.
