One of music’s greatest artists is next in line for Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2018.

Eric Clapton is set to play a very special concert on July 8th 2018, continuing the legacy of all-time greats gracing the Great Oak Stage.

With a decades-long career and countless accolades to his name, Eric Clapton is also something of a local, having first played Hyde Park with Blind Faith on June 7th, 1969 alongside band mates Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Rick Grech to a 120,000 strong audience – it was the band’s debut.

He returned to the Royal Park in 1996, recording a classic live concert that raised money for The Prince’s Trust, again in 2008 and has played over 200 times at the nearby Royal Albert Hall.

“I have happy memories of performing in Hyde Park in the past,” says Eric, “and I’m really looking forward to playing there again – the whole atmosphere is very special.”

He is the only person to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame on three occasions – with The Yardbirds, Cream and as a solo artist.

Eric Clapton truly stands alongside the likes of The Rolling Stones, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty and other legends who have played Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park since its inception in 2013.

The first special guests for the day are also announced with fellow guitar legend Santana heading the pack, alongside Clapton’s friend and Blind Faith partner Steve Winwood

Young guitar slinger Gary Clark Jr will also join the lineup, a master musician from a new generation.

When Eric Clapton was becoming a global recording artist in London, Carlos Santana was making a name for himself in San Francisco and forging a sound entirely his own; an Afro-Latin-blues-rock fusion that has sold 200 million albums and played to 100 million fans. His 1999 album Supernatural took him to a whole new audience around the world spawning hits like ‘Smooth’ and ‘Maria Maria’, winning record of the year at the Grammy Awards.

Steve Winwood was a teenage prodigy, exploding out of Birmingham into the pop charts in 1963 with the Spencer Davis Group at just 15 years of age with ‘Gimme Some Lovin’, ‘I’m A Man’ and ‘Keep on Running’.  He then formed Traffic in 1967 before joining Eric Clapton in Blind Faith in 1969 and then reforming Traffic for their classic albums. His solo career has produced global hits like ‘Higher Love’. He recently released his first ever solo live album ‘Winwood: Greatest Hits Live’ demonstrating his incredible and diverse career.

Gary Clark Jr was born in the music city of Austin, Texas and was inspired by a Michael Jackson concert to take up guitar when he was four years old. He has been hailed as the saviour of the blues, as well as channelling funk and soul influences through his vocals and virtuoso guitar playing. He is the young musician that the legends love and a natural addition to the line up, having also supported The Rolling Stones at the opening year of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time in 2013.

With four huge headliners announced for the 2018 event so far, music lovers can expect another phenomenal year from the award-winning festival, all in the heart of London.

On Friday 6th July, music icon Roger Waters will be bringing his Us + Them Tour to the UK for the first time ever. The Pink Floyd visionary is noted for taking his sonic and visual experimentation to breath-taking levels and turning rock n roll into theatre on the grandest scale. Waters will be showcasing highlights from his groundbreaking body of work, with songs from Pink Floyd’s greatest albums (Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Animals, Dark Side of The Moon), along with tracks from his critically acclaimed new album “Is This the Life We Really Want?”.

On Friday 13th July, Michael Bublé returns for his only show of 2018 and his biggest UK concert. The undisputed ‘King of Cool’ will be dazzling Hyde Park with his classic voice, endearing charm and sheer panache that has seen him compared with the great singers and entertainers. He has carved a unique place in the hearts of fans around the world and lit up pop charts since his debut album in 2005, bringing jazz standards to a new generation while scoring his own original hits including the unforgettable global smashes ‘Home’, ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’, ‘Everything’ and ‘Lost’.

On Saturday 14th July, Hawaiian troubadour Bruno Mars will be performing fresh off the back of his ‘24K Magic World Tour’, which spans over 172 shows across five continents in support of his 2x platinum-selling album 24K Magic. The UK leg of the tour included four critically acclaimed shows at London’s O2 Arena. Now, Mars is set to return to the UK, taking to the stage at in Hyde Park with a dazzling visual production and a set-list crammed full of his chart-topping hits.

Embarking on its 6th edition, Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park is now one of Britain’s biggest and best summer events, attracting some of the greatest names in music to the heart of London’s beautiful Hyde Park.
