Guitarist, Singer, and Songwriter Mutlu Discuss His Musical Journey and Career!
By Staff
In 2008 Mutlu launched his career on Manhattan Records with an album, Livin’ It, produced by mentor and friend T Bone Wolk, and has been growing as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter ever since. He initially discovered his voice in high school while singing in a Broadway revue. He liked being on stage but didn’t anticipate pursuing it as a career. However, while earning a marketing degree from Drexel University, he spent innumerable hours practicing guitar, writing songs, and playing open mic nights.
He built an international following through touring, multiple appearances on Live From Daryl’s House, a steady stream of independent singles and EPs, and most recently, another album in 2019’s Good Trouble. Now roughly fifteen years, he has forged a successful career as a professional musician.
Mutlu will take a coast-to-coast run of the U.S. this October and November following several dates supporting Amos Lee prior. The headline appearances begin on October 12 in Seattle, WA, at The Rendezvous, with the final show set for November 17 in Decatur, GA, at Eddie’s Attic. A complete list of his shows and ticket information can be found here: http://www.mutlusounds.com/
I spoke with Mutlu about the importance of finding his voice as a solo artist, how he has honed his songwriting talents, and to provide us with some insights into creating his most recent album, Good Trouble.
