You know those bands that have a signature sound, that from album to album, you can almost guarantee how it is going to be? For certain bands you can fairly well take it to the bank, when you buy their album, you know exactly what you’re getting. Bands like AC/DC, Motorhead, and Manowar- don’t stray too far from the beaten path they’ve followed since their inception. And it doesn’t mean they’re bad necessarily, just that you know what you’re getting. All bands kind of have their style about them, but some tend to be almost predictable. And again, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as I am a fan of all three of those bands, and the next band I’m going to talk about- is Kreator.

German Thrash masters Kreator have been around for a long time. One of the earliest of the bands to come from the Fatherland during the Thrash takeover. With their new album Hate Über Alles, Kreator has added yet another great album to their lengthy catalog. They’ve not broken much new ground here, still super heavy, with razor-sharp guitar lines and brilliant solos, Mille’s biting vocals, thunderous drums, and thought-provoking lyrics. Songs like “Conquer and Destroy,” “Become Immortal,” and “Dying Planet” is sure to please any lifelong fan of the band. If Kreator has never been your thing, probably still won’t be.

Some bands just don’t appeal to everyone. It’s no knock against a band, it just is how it goes. Taste is always subjective. You can even like other brands of the same genre and still not like all of the bands in said genre. I love Kreator- always have, always will. Do I get excited when a new album comes out? Sure, but maybe not as excited as I do about other bands, and that’s mostly to do with the fact I already know what I’m getting with a new Kreator album. Hate Über Alles is honestly no different in any drastic way from the last few albums. It’s not a knock against it, it’s just that Kreator has a particular sound, and rarely stray far from it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
