The Swedish Hard Rock sensation that is H.E.A.T is back at it again!!!. I know it has been on many upcoming lists of albums to check out this year for sure. Anticipation has built steadily since the great Erik Grönwall exited the band, and now is Skid Row’s main front man.

The talented Swedes welcome back original singer Kenny Leckremo and the question is how much different this new record would sound like, after the successes they had with Erik at the vocal forefront?

Well my opinion is that you can’t compare the two vocalists, Eriks has a wider and stronger range, but Kenny is an excellent vocalist, in fact before the change in singers, the band had already some great records under their belt. Both their title debut and “Freedom Rock” we’re top-rated slabs of Melodic Rock. The H.E.A.T vehicle had already garnered enough steam that when Erik took over, it erupted for sure; but make no mistake about it, it was already there.

The musicianship overall is superb again, the choruses are sharp and melodious as ever on “Force Majure”. Guitar shredder Dave Dalone is a terrific musician and the keys operated by magic man Jona Tee just make the overall groove of this record what you come to expect from H.E.A.T.

The single for “Nationwide” was published a while ago and it got some fans excited still as the voice of Kenny can transition very well for older fans. The delight major groove in this tune is pretty rock solid and stands out as one of the best on the new album. The shifty uptempo rocker in “Hollywood”, brings sleaze and grease all over you. Leckremo sounds tight as hell on this tune, and the rhythm here is just a joy to listen to. The climactic rhythm takes over on the tune “Harder to Breathe”, a well-crafted rocker with momentum and hair-raising antics that propels the tune to top cuts on the record.

The slow piano burner intro in “One Of Us” provides a nice change of pace here, a power ballad rocker that once more plays perfectly to slow down the pace of the album. Kenny does a bang-up job on vocals here again, the high-rising chorus is superb!!! Could this one end up as another single? Has all the required traits I would say. The infectious Def Leppard-inspired choruses in “Hold Your Fire”, make you tremble for some sleazy Hard Rocking body motions, the vocal pipes Leckremo provides are full frontal with an infectious guitar solo to boot. Another slamma of a number. Not one weak rocker to be heard or seen anywhere, please call me a doctor. The album finishes strong with the soulful groovenstein monster in “Wings of An Aeroplane” and the quick churner rhythms of “Demon Eyez”, think of Iron Maiden meeting it’s melodic rock brother, cool ender.

If there was ever any question as to how the boys would respond to the changes in the lineup, well let’s just move on now and not dare even pose that as a question. H.E.A.T does what they have been doing since they came on the scene, vastly underrated similar to other great Swedish Hard Rockers, Eclipse and Crazy Lixx, they know how to rock wearing their influences on their sleeves and not caring. At this point in their career, they have defined their sound and still sound fresh and inspired. You need bands like these to carry the Rock torch, now and ever. Congrats guys you did it once more!!!
