Nashville’s own The Cadillac Three are in a league of their own when it comes to sound and music. Liken to some with a mix of ready country anthems meets Hard and Heavy Rock is clear as day to see why they have consistently become a tour favorite of many Rock and Country connoisseurs over the last few years.
My first time checking them out was a few years ago at the inaugural Exit 111 festival in Manchester, TN. While they played earlier in the day at the headliner stage, one thing was clear, these guys bring it live. The energy they had that day got me hooked and interested even more in their earlier works. We covered the outfit before when they released “Bury Me In My Boots” and “Legacy” both garnering high praise from our writers, and not much has changed in terms of high-quality music and production. They have been consistently hitting the road the last few years and have become another band to experience live.
This time they return from a short trip overseas even headlining a festival, all positive things as most bands are just happy to be back on the road after two years of uncertainty is a great sight to behold.
This time around they trekked down to Huntsville and The Mars Music Hall, even though is a slow night for shows, last week was fall break here so some folks are obviously out of town. That is just simply unfortunate as the boys put on a great freaking show.
Singer and guitar player Jaren Johnston comes out firing on all cylinders, with a heavy metal shirt, a witchy woman hat, and some black shades ready to tear it up for the lucky fans who got to see the show. Always big credit to the bands that bring it, no matter the audience size, is undeniably clear that the guys put on a hell of a show. Crowd favorites the likes of “Hard Out Here for a Country Boy”, and “The Jam” are all played with pristine distortion. Another favorite of mine comes via “Slide”, Jaren kicks it hard and the lap steel guitar handled by Kelby Ray is fantastic to hear live. Drummer Neil Mason is balanced and heavy when they need to be. Another banger comes via “Peace Love & Dixie” and “Tabasco & Sweet Tea” who sustain the night with more fuzzy rocking vibes. An improvable night of great music as only The Cadillac Three could have administered.
The country fuzz sound, however they want to define it, is a perfect description of their sound. Country writing meets Groovy Rock, it plays well with the crowd and it has no doubt cemented the guys a pretty cool following not just here but overseas. Their live energy and sound are much bigger than their studio recordings, something impactful to behold for just 3 guys running the rig. If you missed the show, you missed a true gem of a night. Must check out live!!! Knock it back!!!
