SilentLie was formed in 2005 in the beautiful town of Trieste, Italy. They pushed out an EP in 2013 and a full album in 2015 then the band went on hiatus for an unspecified reason. They came back in 2019 and here is the result – and what a result! SilentLie has always leaned on the darker side, and this is no different they contain some of the catchiest melodies I’ve heard in some time.
‘Divided’ sets the stall out early. It’s simple and heavy thanks to the down-tuned guitar of Luigi Pressacco and the driving bass of Davide Sportiello plus the dark backing synths add more weight.

The heavy continues with ‘On My Skin’ and again they keep it simple and catchy then ‘Something To Remember’ chugs along with another excellent melody from Giorgia Sacco Taz plus some creepy organ helps get the mood going. ‘A Taste Of Solitude’ is atmospheric and rattles along much like the recent Brunhilde record it’s dark and heavy than ‘The One Who Disappears’ and brings a moody ballad with Sabbathian power chords in between the shimmering lines. Powerful and moving. The title track has an eerie start with a ticking clock and spooky keys before a machine gun rattle from Andrea Piergianni sets up another fine rocker then ‘Hysteria’ takes off with some fine guitar work before ‘Modern Paradox’ continues with the same tempo. ‘The Others’ brings another passionate brooding ballad before the Phantom Of The Opera’s appreciation of ‘World Upside Down’ brings things to a wonderous close.

This is superb. It reminds me of a cross between Lucifer and UK NWOCR dark rockers South Of Salem. The music is heavy, melodic, and catchy. Giorgia Sacco Taz has a voice perfect for this sound and the band brought their ‘A’ game with some excellent performances. I seriously can’t stop playing this – it’s so good. Do yourselves a favor and grab a copy – you will not be disappointed.
