This show is something I couldn’t wait for. Three bands that are killing it beyond words in the metal scene today, and they put on one hell of a show.
Opening up was Loathe, the venue was already packed by the time they went on, and everybody was loving it. Songs like “New Faces In The Dark” and “Gored” had an insane crowd response. Incredible live act.
Next was Periphery. I love this band. The new album, is incredible, highly recommend it. That night they played 2 of those songs and it killed me. This was my first time catching them live. As a drummer myself, Matt Halpern is a god amongst men, and half the show I just spent with my jaw on the floor in awe of what he was doing. Also getting to see “The Bad Thing” live was a huge highlight.
Last was Underoath. Oh my god, this band is the greatest. I’ve seen them about 6/7 times now and they get better every time. They’re my favorite band behind Judas Priest so maybe I’m a little biased here but they put on THE BEST live show around (that isn’t Rammstein). Opening with “It’s Dangerous Business….” was an odd choice to me but it was the most hype I’ve ever seen in a crowd. I that version of “Breathing In A New Mentality”, I wish they recorded that because that was the best I ever heard that song live. Getting to see “Down Set Go” was something I’ve waited a long time for. They’re worth every penny. Go see them, go see this tour.

*Blind Obedience Tour with Periphery and Loathe
UNDEROATH reinvents the balance between chaos and harmony with each successive release. Their compositions, conjured from creative tension, become iconoclastic anthems. Even when the band almost combusts, the crackling energy coalesces into something deeply resonant for millions.
Their pair of gold albums and three Grammy nominations stand in stark defiance of the idea of commercial compromise. The Underoath catalog weaponizes noise, aggression, and ambiance as skillfully as melody. The combination of heaviness and headiness found on Define the Great Line makes it the only record of its kind to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
The heart of their sound, which delivers naked vulnerability with thrilling force and cinematic lushness, can be heard in generations of bands who’ve pursued their trail.
Walking an artistic tightrope between immersive access and isolationist otherness, Underoath owns the space between huge choruses and forward-thinking heaviness, both on record and onstage.
