Since 1997 Fort Lauderdale natives, Nonpoint has been taking the stage and tearing down the house! Opening for huge names then headlining them later in their career. With the recently released singles “Paper Tigers” and “Heartless” they are still proving to the world they are still a force to be recognized! Their performance on March 15th was no exception.

Opening for Nonpoint was Canadian alt-metal, Sumo Cyco, an insanely energetic band with killer riffs and a front woman that is as metal as they come. SC kept the crowd moving with half the crowd opening for a pit. Halfway through the set Skye “Sever” Sweetnam (Vocalist), jumped up in the barricade and dove into the crowd, and was carried from the front to the back and back to the front of the Nashville venue, The Basement East. The last song “Sever”, got back out in the crowd and stood in the middle of the pit to get everyone to squat down on the floor and instructed them as the music started back that everyone should jump up and go crazy!

Hailing from Texas, Palestine to be exact Blacktop Mojo, took the stage second that night. Since forming the band in 2012 the band has stayed pretty consistent with members and producing new music for their fans. The crowd roared as Blacktop ran through their set with one banger after another! Matt James’s vocals carried through the house and you could feel the emotion in every lyric. The blues-influenced Texans had everyone in the house rocking to their killer list of songs that have been becoming more and more popular since their first album in 2014 (I AM).

The last set of the night, well known by all ages, Nonpoint, took the stage in matching red jumpsuits. With lights flashing and an urban cityscape background. The crowd was ecstatic to jam to all of the hits from 12 albums since 1997. The Nu-Metal band from Florida has been featured on many outlets through the years including WWE Smackdown vs. Raw and the movie The Condemned. Some of their prime cuts got delivered this night, with inmsemse power such as “The Truth”, “Bullet With a Name” and the Phil Collins classic cover of “In The Air Tonight”.

The Nashville tour stop was one for the books! Each band had its vibe but fit well together. Each band had plenty of cool merch and was ready to meet their fans at the merch tables. Make sure to keep an eye out for either of these bands so that when they come close to your city you don’t miss them. You’ll be glad you did.
