On April 12th, 2023, blues fans filled the Intimate Tennessee venue of Hop Springs to experience the legendary Tab Benoit’s live performance. As soon as Benoit took the stage, the audience erupted in applause, ready to be taken on a soulful journey through the sounds of the Delta blues.

Opening the show was up-and coming to Alastair Greene. After releasing his new album (produced by Benoit) in January “Alive In The New World” is joining Tab’s tour for the US dates. No stranger to the blues he wowed the crowd as Benoit played drums and Cory laid down the bass lines.

Tab Benoit, a Grammy-nominated blues guitarist, and singer, is known for his electrifying guitar solos and soulful vocals. He has been recognized as one of the greatest contemporary blues artists of our time, and his live shows have become a must-see for fans of the genre. From the moment he began to strum his guitar, it was clear that Benoit was in his element. From the moment he started strumming his Fender Tele he had the crowd’s attention, and it didn’t take long for the crowd to get on their feet and start dancing. Benoit’s guitar playing was impeccable, and his voice was as powerful and soulful as ever. Throughout the night, Benoit performed some of his most well-known tracks, including “Darker Side,” “Shelter Me,” and “Nice and Warm.” His band, consisting of bassist Corey Duplechin and drummer Terence Higgins, provided a solid rhythm section and seamlessly backed Benoit’s guitar playing.

One of the standout moments of the show was when Benoit performed “Whiskey Store,” a song about the struggles of addiction. Benoit’s emotional delivery of the lyrics, combined with his powerful guitar playing, left the audience in awe. It was a reminder of the raw emotion and storytelling that is at the heart of the blues genre. As the night went on, the energy in the room continued to build. Benoit’s guitar solos became more electrifying, and the audience’s dancing became more frenzied. Benoit’s encore, a performance of “Night Train,” while inviting Greene back on the stage, was a perfect ending to the night, leaving the audience feeling energized and fulfilled.

Overall, Tab Benoit’s concert at Hop Springs was a testament to his status as a blues legend. His guitar playing was flawless, his vocals were powerful, and his stage presence was captivating. Benoit’s music speaks to the soul and touches the heart, and his live performance was an experience that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
