King Winger and Company have been in the Hard Rock game for a long time, so long that the band has been touring now for 35 years. Based on this wonderful feat, the guys will be releasing now their 7th studio album aptly titled “Seven”. The coolest thing about Winger in 2023 is the fact it has been able to retain all its original members from the 80s, and that is a good thing and a testament to the enduring times and the chemistry of the guys.

King Winger himself keeps his voice in excellent shape, so much so that last year when they were opening for Skid Row on a few dates, we saw the guys live and they were fantastic. Is not every day you can retain your original lineup this long and still manage to deliver something new to the world of music. Props to the guys for grinding and keep doing what they do best.

The lineup consists still of Kip Winger, Reb Beach, Rod Morgenstein, and Paul Taylor. Guitarist John Roth was added in 1992. The crew is heading on the road extensively this summer and you will no doubt want to catch them live.

With the new tour, we roll into these hot tracks off the new record. The single “Proud Desperado” is a banger, Kip sounds great, and with its catchy hook in the chorus, you see why this one was picked as a single. Right into “Heaven’s Falling” we go with another indelible hook. The driving push in “Tears of Blood” is exquisite, Kip kicks his vocals up a notch, and the tight riffs here are one of the hardest on the album, superb track. The bass thumping galore in “Voodoo Fire’ makes it another memorable song, whilst a trademarked power ballad in “Broken Glass” breaks through next with well-composed lyrics, alongside its super-inducing keys.. Very well done indeed on this one. No weak moments are to be found here and the harmonies are intuned with any of their past works, Kip sounds great and the band plays terrific.

It seems incredulous to think that so many years later, the same guys just keep making great music, and somehow still sounding and keeping the spirit of the 80s alive while sounding modern and entertaining. That is indeed what Winger does here with a very well-produced record, which sounds and feels like a polished group of seasoned rock vets just doing what they have been doing their whole career. A long career in that. Here’s a toast to your 7th, not to be branded lucky or anything, because Winger doesn’t need luck, they just kick lucks ass by themselves!!! Check it out when it comes out you won’t regret it!!!
