Malevolence kicked things off with one of the most energetic sets I’ve witnessed. Their first time in New York and they made everyone here a fan. Playing songs mainly off their “Malicious Intent” album they opened their set with the title track into “Life Sentence” and crushed it. My personal favorite was the closer “On Broken Glass”, everybody was a fan of them by the end of their time. These guys are a band to keep an eye on.
Next up was Beartooth. The crowd was beyond energetic and was extremely hyped to see them. Screaming every word, jumping, and with a crazy pit (which resulted in a fan falling and hurting himself), they put on a great show. Songs like “Body Bag” and “In Between” were fan favorites. Closing with a drum solo into “The Last Riff”, Connor Denis was easily the star of the show.
Trivium closed the show and my god what a performance. They’ve been a favorite of mine for the longest time and every time I see them they kill it. New songs like “No Way Back Just Through” and “Feast Of Fire” had an amazing crowd reaction as well as classics like “Rain” and “Down From The Sky”, a song that I even had to jump in the pit for. This band is going to be the next big metal headliner for years to come and with shows like this, it just proves it. Don’t miss this tour. Trivum has been picking up massive steam over the last few years and this Tour only reaffirms this.
Beartooth was recently nominated for a Libera Award for “Best Heavy Record” for the 2022 hit single “Riptide,” which has garnered over 20 million streams to date. They also wrapped an 18-date, sold-out tour in the UK and Europe, where they headlined some of their biggest shows to date, including the iconic Wembley Arena. It marked the band’s most successful overseas run its history so far!
Catch Beartooth on their current 38-date U.S. co-headline tour alongside Trivium, which includes a triumphant return home at Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, OH. The band will follow the co-headliner with trips to Australia and Europe, while concluding 2023 with an appearance at Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Alton, VA.
Trivium released their tenth full-length, In the Court of the Dragon, through longtime label Roadrunner Records in 2021. The record was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur. The band has continued to receive International acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, KERRANG!, NME, TechCrunch, Kotaku, Alternative Press, Revolver, and more. That’s because Trivium have been steadily building a rock solid foundation. The band released its now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!’s “Album of the Year,” achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. It ignited a string of six consecutive Top 25 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 and five straight Top 3 debuts on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, culminating on 2017’s benchmark The Sin And The Sentence. That album elevated the group’s total stream tally past a quarter-of-a-billion. Additionally, “Betrayer” received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” They followed with What the Dead Men Say in 2020, which landed the band on several year-end “Best Of” lists. Through the years, Trivium performed alongside Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many others and graced the main stages of Download, Bloodstock, KNOTFEST, and more. After two decades, 10 albums, hundreds of sold out shows, and nearly a billion catalog streams on Spotify, Trivium actualize the all-encompassing ambition they first set in motion back in 1999.
