Auro Control is a Brazilian progressive power metal band led by vocalist Lucas de Ouro. The band is completed by guitarist Lucas Barnery, who serves as the chief composer, alongside guitarist Diego Pires and drummer Davi Britto. Their debut album features a diverse group of musicians, including bassist Thiago Bianchi (Noturnall, ex-Shaman), drummer Aquiles Priester (W.A.S.P., ex-Angra), bassist Felipe Andreoli (Angra), Bahian singer Aiace, and the renowned Jeff Scott Soto.

The album opens with “Feel The Fire”, a track that pays homage to classic Helloween, setting the scene perfectly and showcasing the band’s proficiency from the outset. Brazil, much like Italy, has a remarkable affinity for producing exceptional power metal acts. There must be something in the water—or perhaps it’s the coffee beans—that fuels this talent.

This leads seamlessly into the guest artist segments, with Soto’s performance on “Not Alone” standing out as particularly exceptional. Soto’s powerful vocals are a highlight, reminding listeners of his remarkable talent and adding immense value to the album. The other guest artists make notable appearances on tracks such as “Rise of The Phoenix” and “The Harp”, both of which are tailored to complement the unique styles of the featured singers. This thoughtful curation is a testament to Lucas de Ouro’s vision, an idea he has nurtured for some time. His collaboration with Lucas Barnery has proven to be highly successful, resulting in a stellar power metal release.

Barnery’s guitar solos, which transition the album from power metal to more progressive territories, are particularly impressive. His ability to shift effortlessly from high-speed riffs to intricate solos demonstrates his versatility and skill beyond just sheer speed. As with many collaborative bands, Auro Control’s project is driven by passion and seasoned expertise. The extensive and impressive resumes of the band members and their guests ensure a cohesive and successful outcome. The album is a testament to their collective experience and dedication to the genre.
