After reviewing Beth Hart’s live album at The Royal Albert Hall, I was excited to review her latest studio album. Beth Hart, a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, has a captivating voice and persona. The opening track of the album features the legendary guitarist Slash, and it’s a perfect blend of powerful vocals and rock vibes. With Slash riding alongside Beth’s voice and honky-tonk piano you just know that this album is going to tick all the boxes … and it does!

Eric Gales also adds a raw blues touch to the album with “Suga N My Bowl,” complementing Beth’s deep and captivating voice.  This bluesy feel is felt through out a lot of the album, but there are surprise twists of country, poetic love songs and tongue in cheek fun to boot, making the journey through ‘You Still Got Me’ captivating and surprising.

The album opens with slow and blues-driven tracks, and then transitions to a toe-tapping, Greek Cantina-inspired song “Never Underestimate a Gal.” “Drunk on Valentine” paints a picture of a rainy night in a New York cocktail bar, creating a beautiful and atmospheric vibe. “Wanna Be Big Bad Johnny Cash” brings a change in vibe with old-school country music, followed by poignant and uplifting tracks like “Wonderful World” (the stunning video of which has been release this week) and “Little Heartbreak Girl.”

All of these songs bring Beth’s amazing voice and song writing to the fore with devastating beauty, her strength and inner child are naked for all to see …and hear.

“Don’t Call the Police” is a powerful call to action, keeping the listener captivated with its ebb and flow. The title track is a heartfelt love song, showcasing Beth’s vocal prowess. The album concludes with “Pimp Like Me” and “Machine Gun Vibrato,” offering a wide range of music genres.

Beth Hart’s vocal dexterity shines throughout the album, from stunning simplicity to rock ‘n’ roll, country, and blues. Overall, it’s another big hit from Beth Hart.

If you want to experience this talented artist live, Beth Hart will be performing in the UK in 2024 on November 28 at the Lighthouse, Poole, and November 30 at the Dome, Brighton. She will also return in 2025 for performances on February 18 at the Beacon, Bristol, February 20 at the Eventim Apollo, London, and February 22 at the Arts Centre, Warwick.
