THE FLYING HORSEMEN is a new band from Norway, so don’t confuse them with other bands from the past that share the same bandname. 3 members used to be in the band ARABS IN ASPIC, and you can hear that clearly in the music of the band, which is a mix of classic rock, progressive rock and stoner/doom.

There’s also MOTORPSYCHO references, although THE FLYING HORSEMEN is really going into a the doomy progressive rock direction during the 4 included songs. The band consists of ANDERS SPRAUTEN (guitars, vocals), TOMMY INGEBRIGTSEN (guitar/theremin), JOHN WAERNES (guitar, vocals), TERJE NYHUS (bass) and OYVIND GRONN (drums), and from start to finish they keep you entertained with the wonderful mixture of aforementioned styles. Opener Norseide takes some time to get started, but after spinning it a few times I could definitely hear that THE FLYING HORSEMEN is moving into quite a high level of musicianship, because there is a lot to explore here, also throughout the other 3 lengthy songs. It’s like BLACK SABBATH created a record together with JANE or NEKTAR 50 years ago, but somehow it was never released until now!

Highly recommended piece that sounds like a collector’s item in the future to come!
