Out of New Jersey, USA comes the new band KUNES CLARK BAND. This band is formed around singer/songwriter Jimmy Kunes (CACTUS, SAVOY BROWN, HUMBLE PIE…) and guitarist/songwriter Angus Clark (CHER, JOE LYNN TURNER, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA…), while the rhythm section consists of drummer Van Romaine and bassist Winston Roye. Together they recorded this 8 tracks counting debut CD that contains classic hard rock in it’s true authentic direction. If you’re a fan of THE BLACK CROWES, HUMBLE PIE, RIVAL SONS, LED ZEPPELIN, AEROSMITH, TESLA, GREAT WHITE, FREE, WHITESNAKE and such, then you’re definitely going to love this band.

Jimmy is an amazing singer with a voice that reminds me of early DAVID COVERDALE, the late GOTTHARD singer STEVE LEE and the late GREAT WHITE singer JACK RUSSELL. Musically speaking the band moves into the same bluesy classic rock / hard rock direction as all of the aforementioned bands. There’s uptempo material, midtempo groovy stuff and the slightly more calmer melodic rock based songs, so a nice mixture with as main focus the superb vocals of Jimmy. Especially the melodic rocker Cross To Bear and the groovy FREE/WHITESNAKE/XYZish groovy classic bluesy hardrocker Release Yourself are of an insane high level.

This band and it’s debut CD are close to champions league classic rock, so let’s hope they will be around for a while in the future! Check them out.
