The wait for Talia Hoit’s debut solo album ‘*Oceans*’ has proven worthwhile, as the Colorado native brings her classical piano training and love of orchestral metal to fruition. While juggling roles as Beyond Forgiveness’s vocalist and Ob Nixilis’s keyboardist, Holt has crafted something remarkable. Though she created solo music in 2007 and 2012, those pieces remained within a close circle of friends and family. Now, she’s ready for an international audience.

Speaking of remarkable elements, Mat Plekhanov of Dragony lends his guitar expertise to the album, delivering the proverbial cherry on top. For evidence of his masterful contribution, look no further than the solo on ‘*Beautiful*’, the album’s fourth track.

Hoit’s voice deserves to be mentioned alongside Sharon Den Adel and Tarja Turunen – not as an imitation, but as an equal. Her inspiring vocal range carves its own unique space while echoing the quality of these symphonic metal legends. Throughout the album, she weaves metaphorical oceanic language to explore human emotions. The lyrics cleverly parallel relationships to ships crashing on rocky shores, compare emotional voids to the ocean’s vastness, and link personal resilience to navigating turbulent waters. Each track celebrates the human spirit’s endurance.

To grasp ‘*Oceans*’ fully requires time and contemplation. Picture yourself facing the ocean’s unrelenting power and infinite depth – that’s the simplest way to describe this album’s impact. Take the journey across these musical waters; you won’t be disappointed.
