Uncured have just released their furious new album, Warpath, which showcases the band’s mastery of the Nu-Metalcore genre. From start to finish, the album delivers crushing guitar riffs, pummeling drums, and visceral vocals that grab the listener by the throat and never let go.
From the opening track, “Mask of Sanity,” it’s clear that this New Jersey quartet has honed their craft to a razor’s edge. The band’s relentless touring schedule has seen them conquer stages throughout North America, with top acts such as Bad Omens, Jinjer, and Bad Wolves solidifying their reputation as a must-see live act. From Europe’s most prestigious summer festivals, such as the UK’s legendary Bloodstock and Germany’s Summer Breeze, to the expansive venues of South America, where they shared the stage with gothic metal icons Lacuna Coil. In 2025, they are confirmed to perform at Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life, and After Shock Festivals. In my interview with Rex and Zak Cox, they discussed the origins and evolution of their music, their past and current musical influences, and the impact it has all had on the creation of Warpath. To emphasize the point, they shared their musical journey from being influenced by progressive metal bands like Dream Theater to incorporating elements of nu-metal and metalcore, slowly drawing inspiration from bands like Slipknot and Motionless in White to get to their unique sound. Zak and Rex are dedicated to their craft, and their willingness to evolve and experiment with their sound is evident.
