The first single from The Dead Daisies’ new reimagined blues cover album, Lookin’ For Trouble, is the classic Robert Johnson song “Crossroads,” with the full album arriving May 30th via Fame / Malaco Records.

To help accentuate the point home, the band released a new original single, “Love That’ll Never Be,” from their 2024 Light Em Up album. This song is a strategic transition for fans anticipating the blues covers album. When these five seasoned, high-caliber musicians, John Corabi [vocals], David Lowy [guitar], Doug Aldrich [guitar], Michael Devin [bass], and Tommy Clufetos [drums], come together to create an album, the result is nothing short of explosive and memorable.

“Love That’ll Never Be” is a song that oscillates between rock, blues, and southern rock in the vein of The Allman Brothers, while the Lookin’ For Trouble album is an electrifying foray into the heart and soul of the blues that pays homage to the trailblazers while boldly pushing the genre into uncharted sonic territory. The reimagined blues classics deliver enough firepower to burn down your fucking barn! The album was conceived in March 2024 during sessions for Light Em Up in Nashville, when the band relocated to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to complete Lookin’ For Trouble at the iconic FAME Studios. The lead single, “Crossroads,” sets the stage for an album packed with searing guitar riffs, thunderous rhythms, and vocals that drip with grit and swagger.

It’s always a pleasure interviewing John as he sheds light on the band’s latest music and the creative process behind it. With genuine concern, John began the interview by providing an update on guitarist Doug Aldrich’s health, assuring fans that the guitarist is on the mend.

The interview then shifted to the band’s latest single, “Love That’ll Never Be,” a poignant track that delves into the consequences of poor life choices, whether in personal relationships or professional pursuits. He revealed that the song’s origins can be traced back to the recording sessions for their previous album, Light Em Up, where he initially penned the tune for a potential solo release. He recognized the song’s undeniable strength and presented it to the band for consideration. Unsurprisingly, radio stations have embraced the track, captivating listeners with its heartfelt lyrics. John also discussed the band’s approach to their blues-inspired album, Lookin’ For Trouble, divulging that they aimed to capture the essence of how they believed Led Zeppelin would have interpreted the blues songs. Check out the full interview to see if John thinks Lookin’ For Trouble is a Grammy contender; his response may surprise you!
