French rock artist Lucie Sue is making waves with her latest single “HUSH,” released on March 20th, 2025. The track showcases her signature sound of driving riffs paired with powerful, infectious vocals, and uniquely blends both English and German lyrics.
“It’s like hearing L7 locked in a groovy battle with Metallica at an industrial rave night — all dead eyed nocturnal atmosphere, spiced with chugging riffage and a fierce, commanding voice to set the whole thing on fire,” raves The Hot List in Classic Rock Magazine (UK).
“HUSH” explores the chaotic struggle of a single mother facing her children’s rebellion. With a quirky tone, Lucie Sue reveals her parenting philosophy: “I’ve never been a perfect mother. I reject the idea of ‘parental sacrifice’ or ‘compromise,’ which unnecessarily creates guilt. I’ve always prioritized autonomy,” she explains. “My kids know how to cook, get around, organize themselves, and this upbringing has forged a strong character in them.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Antoine Doyen, was filmed in an abandoned 1970s hotel and features two children causing chaos for their mother—a theme that resonates with Lucie Sue’s own experiences as a parent of Franco-German children.
A self-described “child of the MTV generation,” Lucie Sue grew up on 90s Anglo-Saxon bands like L7, Metallica, and PJ Harvey, a stark contrast to her classical training at the Lyon National Conservatory. Before her music career took off, she worked as an accomplished art director.
During lockdown, she gained social media attention with creative cover versions where she played all instruments herself. This led to her composing, recording, producing, and releasing her first album “To Sing In French” in 2023.
Her talent caught the eye of Richard Gamba, Gojira’s manager of nearly 10 years, who signed her in September 2024. Since then, she’s secured a spot on the MainStage 1 at Hellfest Open Air Festival (performing Saturday, June 21st, 2025) and signed with European booking agents We Live.
Lucie Sue performs alongside band members Mitch, Laura, and Enzo, with a 13-track album scheduled for release later in 2025. Additional European tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
