The trajectory of rock music often sees bands grind for decades, but occasionally, a force emerges with such undeniable talent and momentum that their ascent feels almost meteoric. Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, the sister trio The Warning – Daniela (guitar, lead vocals), Paulina (drums, vocals), and Alejandra Villarreal (bass, backing vocals) – embody this rapid rise. From teenage YouTube sensations covering rock classics to globally recognised artists, their journey has been fuelled by raw musical prowess, powerful songwriting, and an electrifying stage presence.
In just a few short years, they’ve transformed from viral sensations, propelled by a praised Metallica cover, into a formidable presence on the international rock scene. They’ve earned accolades from rock royalty, secured major label backing with Lava/Republic Records, released critically noted albums like ERROR and Keep Me Fed, and toured relentlessly, sharing stages with giants like Muse, Foo Fighters, and Guns N’ Roses.
This whirlwind climb reached a significant peak just days ago. On April 17th, 2025, The Warning achieved a landmark milestone: selling out London’s prestigious O2 Academy Brixton. Playing to a capacity crowd in one of the UK’s most iconic venues is a powerful testament to their dedicated, rapidly expanding fanbase and cements their status not just as rising stars, but as a major force shaping the future of rock music. Their Brixton triumph isn’t just a concert; it’s a declaration that The Warning has truly arrived.
Building tension for the main act of the night (Sophie Lloyd had supported earlier in the night and our review of her set can be seen here:
SOPHIE LLOYD SHINES IN BRIXTON, the back screens displayed stunning visuals before the sisters took to the stage. The trio made their entrance all dressed in striking red outfits. In the crowd there were individuals that had been to every show on the tour demonstrating how committed a following the group have amassed in such a short time.
Starting off the set with popular track “Six Feet Deep” the group were met with cheers and singing. From the front of the stage you could feel the strength from Paulina’s drums with every stick movement delivering a powerful hit. The fierce performance continued through numerous tracks with the audience active in their appreciation. Following track “Apologize” Alejandra and Paulina left the stage leaving Daniela to showcase her talents on the guitar. As she starts the intro to “Choke” the crowd starting singing before Daniela being rejoined by her sisters and they continued their audible barrage.
At times the audience even continued singing songs after they had concluded which is not something I have seen often before and showed the love they had for the band.
Throughout the entire set the group had strong interactions with those gathered. The visual display provided by the lighting and screen visuals really added to the atmosphere of the event and helped the group deliver a well-rounded performance. It is clear to see why the band has gained so much momentum and why their songs are so popular and this live performance will only serve to enhance their reputations with the UK audience. Following “Evolve” the three left the stage with the crowd begging for more to which the ladies obliged with a two song encore of “Narcisista” and “Automatic Sun”.
