A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer – May 4th, 2025
The Orion Amphitheater, Huntsville, Alabama
A Perfect Circle opened with a commanding rendition of “The Package,” establishing an immediate intensity that permeated the venue. Their performance of “Blue” showcased the band’s textural sophistication before Primus took over, highlighting Les Claypool’s virtuosic bass technique through intricate compositions like “Groundhog’s Day” and “Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread.”
The transition to Puscifer brought the evening’s most compelling vocal dynamics. The interplay between Keenan and Carina Round during “Horizons” and “Indigo Children” created a mesmerizing contrast that enhanced each composition’s emotional resonance.
Act II featured increasingly adventurous collaborations, notably Primus‘s performance of “Little Lord Fentanyl” with Puscifer‘s vocalists – creating timbral combinations previously unexplored. When A Perfect Circle returned with definitive renditions of “The Contrarian” and “Weak and Powerless,” Keenan’s vocal prowess remained impeccable throughout the demanding repertoire.
The audience’s patience was rewarded with powerful performances of “The Noose” and an especially commanding version of “Judith.” The exceptional audio engineering maintained perfect instrumental clarity while preserving each composition’s essential dynamic intensity.
A noteworthy theatrical element occurred when Keenan descended to the stage via an electric chair apparatus – a visual flourish that complemented the evening’s artistic vision rather than appearing contrived.
Early on, Keenan requested that attendees disconnect from their devices – a directive largely respected with few exceptions. The resulting phone-free environment noticeably enhanced audience engagement, allowing for deeper immersion in the performance’s nuances.
For media professionals, note the strictly enforced final-song-only documentation policy – an increasingly standard practice requiring appropriate planning.
For those who missed Sessanta’s initial tour, this engagement offers a rare opportunity to witness three significant contemporary rock entities integrate into a cohesive artistic statement that presents their individual identities – less a conventional concert than a sophisticated convergence of complementary musical philosophies.
