David Reece needs no introduction to hard rock fans worldwide. From his tenure with Accept on the classic “Eat The Heat” album to founding Bangalore Choir and delivering the beloved “On Target” in 1992, Reece has established himself as one of heavy metal’s most distinctive vocalists. With Bangalore Choir’s new album “RAPID FIRE SUCCESSION: On Target Part II” set for release on BraveWords Records in late 2025, we caught up with David to discuss his storied career, the reformation of Bangalore Choir, and what’s next for this legendary frontman.

How did you join Accept and what was it like being in the band?
I was recommended by a woman named Lucy Forbes in Santa Monica to Dieter Dierks, the Accept producer. Accept was great for me—it gave me worldwide exposure and was truly a life-changing experience.
Why did you leave Accept?
It wasn’t working between us, so I left. Sometimes things just don’t click, and it was time to move on.
How was Bangalore Choir formed, and how did you meet the other members?
I went to Los Angeles and started searching for players. I was really blessed to find Curt, John, Danny, and Jackie. I first met John Kirk at GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) and brought in the others from there.
Bangalore Choir actually reformed later and made this new album. Could you tell us more about that decision?
As a solo artist, I perform many songs from “On Target” live, and I realized there are still so many fans out there who love this music. That’s when I decided to reform the band and record “Rapid Fire Succession: On Target Part II.” There was unfinished business, and the fans deserved more.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m touring through Europe with Alcatrazz and Girlschool, which has been incredible. But I’m also writing the follow-up album each day because I have so many new ideas flowing. The creativity never stops.
Any favorite bands or influences?
Deep Purple and Bad Company are huge for me. I prefer hard rock blues-based bands, actually. That’s where my heart is.
Any memorable stories from your time in Accept?
Too many to tell, actually! But it was absolutely a life-changing experience. Those years shaped who I am as an artist.
The first Bangalore Choir album “On Target” featured songs written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova. Could you tell us more about recording that album?
My manager mentioned they had some songs that I might want to check out, so I decided on “Doin’ the Dance.” It was really great having them involved on the record. Having songwriters of that caliber believe in what we were doing meant a lot.
Any future plans and projects you can share?
Right now I’m focused on Bangalore Choir and promoting this record. But I do have some offers on the table, so time will tell. I’m always open to new opportunities, but Bangalore Choir is my priority at the moment.
Bangalore Choir’s new single “Bullet Train” is available now at https://smarturl.it/bangalorechoir. The full album “RAPID FIRE SUCCESSION: On Target Part II” will be released on BraveWords Records in late 2025. Catch David Reece on tour with Alcatrazz and Girlschool throughout Europe this November and December.
