Russian pagan/folk metallers ARKONA began their North America leg of their world tour with a live performance at the Gramercy Theater this past October 29th. The warriors are supporting their new record titled “Decade of Glory” which was released earlier this year. Arkona’s lyrics are heavily influenced by Russian folklore and Slavic mythology, and their music incorporates several traditional Russian musical instruments. The name of the band Arkona refers to the last pagan Slavic city-castle.
With a longer graphic novel out now to accompany the music, the Starset universe is expanding rapidly and for those willing to put the time in to understand it, it’s a fascinating journey and one worth taking.
