Paradise Lost, The Academy, Dublin, 27th September 2015

I personally never got into Paradise Lost in the early days, and any time I did hear them, they never really grabbed my attention. I only wish I had seen them live before now. Their live performance definitely awakened an interest in the band for me, and I would recommend that others make an effort to see them on this tour even if they have never heard their music

Danko Jones/The Amorettes live at Whelan’s, Dublin September 18th 2015

Although he performs his music with a brilliantly controlled ferocity, at times his interaction with the crowd is just as compelling. When he addressed, as he called it “the big fucking elephant in the room“, meaning the empty balcony above, it drew a loud belt of laughter

Interview with guitarist \ vocalist – Danko Jones

With a UK tour in full swing, support coming from Ireland’s own ‘The Amorettes’, Danko Jones took time out before the Dublin show to speak to MGM reporter Brian Boyle to discuss all things DJ and why it’s been a while since we’ve seen them on this side of the pond;

Gojira live at The Academy, Dublin, 28th August 2015

The last time Gojira played in Dublin, it was on the tiny stage in Whelan’s, but as the Academy stage is readied for tonight’s performance, it is obvious that Gojira are now accustomed to playing much larger venues: their backdrop barely fitting on the wall, partially obscured by their stacked amp cabinets. At precisely 9pm the house lights dim and the crowd begin to chant “Go-ji-ra”.

Nick Oliveri, The Voodoo Lounge, Dublin, 13th July 2015

Just one man and his acoustic; tonight’s show is something a little different. Nick Oliveri’s “Death Acoustic” tour comes to Dublin just over twelve months after his last jam-packed appearance in the Thomas House. This time around, the Voodoo Lounge provides a more spacious venue, and news of his solo show has attracted a healthy crowd for a Monday evening.

Interview with Evil Scarecrow, The Voodoo Lounge, Dublin, 11th April 2015

Evil Scarecrow played their debut Irish show in the Voodoo Lounge, Dublin on April 11th 2015. We spoke with Doctor Hell (DH) and Brother Pain (BP) about their incredible performance at Bloodstock 2014, their upcoming slot at Download 2015, the recording of their cheekily titled album “Galactic Hunt”, cartoons and drugs. They even gave us an exclusive performance of some potentially new songs, which we have tentatively titled “Tops-Off” and “Thunderdogs”. Check out the Video below and read more in the transcript…

Anathema, Resonance Tour, The Academy, Dublin, Friday April 17th 2015

Less than 6 months since Anathema last visited Dublin in support of their Distant Satellites album, the Liverpudlians are back. But tonight is no ordinary show. It is the final date of their “Resonance” Tour; an epic three-hour, three-part, career-spanning performance that has drawn Anathema fans old and new out of the woodwork, apparently. The queue outside the Academy before doors open at 7pm is a sight seldom seen. But with no support bands, everyone wants to be here in time to catch the opening act.
